Divers Linocut / Femme, Women Block Printing Art / Feminist Fine Art / Women Diving

CA$36.00

"Divers" is a 9x12 hand-drawn, hand-cut, hand-printed piece of artwork made in and inspired by Coastal British Columbia (based in Lund, BC, on Tla'amin and Coast Salish territories).

This piece (and all of my fine art in the shop) are made via a print-making method that has been used across millennia, often referred to as "block printing" (also "linocut printmaking" or "relief printmaking"). I begin the process by sketching original artwork on linoleum blocks made from natural materials, and then carve the malleable material with chisels and carving tools. Finally, I use a non-toxic water-soluble, oil-based ink to roll onto the stamp, and then print the design by hand onto thin, elegant, sustainable papers (I use a variety of papers, but mainly fine Mulberry and Lotka paper).

*Note* these are not digital prints; as each is hand-printed, every piece is slightly different, with small inconsistencies and differences in ink application that lead to unique, original prints. Please note that there may be minor differences in the print you receive relative to the print pictured here (part of the joy and charm of linocut prints).

The total size of the print is 9x12 - it will fit into basic and easy-to-find standard frame sizes! It is printed on 40-80 gsm Mulberry or Lotka paper (sustainably made fine paper).

Prints are placed inside a plastic sleeve and backed with cardstock for additional protection before being enclosed in a rigid mailer. I visit the post office once a week, so your order will be sent within ~ 4-7 business days after it is placed. I do not have orders tracked, as it would significantly increase shipping prices, but if you need your order rushed or tracked please message me to let me know.

If you are looking to customize this piece, several other ink colours are available and other paper options are possible. Please reach out to discuss details.

Thank you so much for your support and looking!
